SHUN SHAME

What did I do wrong?  Most Christian parents we have spoken with are asking this question.  Even if you feel you contributed to your child’s choices by causing them the pain of divorce or they witnessed your own mistakes, know that the Lord is not punishing your child for your sins. 

Romans 1:17 tells us that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.  If you have given your heart to Jesus, and asked him to forgive you of your sins, you are completely forgiven.  Psalm 103: 8-12 tells us that God is merciful and tender toward even those who don’t deserve it; he is slow to get angry and full of kindness and love. He has removed our sins as far away from us as the east is from the west. Isn’t that amazing?  If you feel guilt or shame read Psalm 103 often and ask the Lord’s Holy Spirit to help you believe this promise – that God is not angry with you!
